Xbox series x wired controller

If I plug in a wireless Xbox series x controller into my keymander it will work, but it won't pick up my microphone for more than one minute. I went and bought a Xbox series x wired controller (both are type c) and now it won't even turn on. Should I just switch back to Xbox 360 wired controller? Is it because it's a type c?
